拉法基欲增加菲律宾水泥产能

　　法国拉法基公司将投资2.5亿菲律宾比索使其在菲律宾的水泥产能增加23%。这将使拉法基近两年在菲律宾Fortune Cement水泥公司的投资达到9.5亿菲律宾比索。拉法基有关人士说他们今年将投资2.5亿使Fortune公司的日产量达到3200吨，该公司现有日产能是2600吨。据中国水泥网了解，包括收购Republic Cement公司，拉法基公在菲律宾投入了10亿比索。

　　在投资其它水泥公司之前，拉法基主要是扩大和改善Fortune公司的设备。据中国水泥网了解，拉法基在菲律宾有5个水泥厂。

　　拉法基强调了菲律宾水泥进口保护税的必要性，该保护税由菲律宾水泥协会提出。菲律宾对每袋（40公斤）进口水泥征收15.60比索的保护关税，该税将延续到2008年。

Lafarge to hike cement capacity

Lafarge SA of France, the largest cement producer in the world, is pumping in P250 million worth of investments to raise by as much as 23 percent the capacity of one of its cement interests in the Philippines. 

Lafarge Cement president Erdogan Pekenc told reporters during the joint general membership meeting of the Makati Business Club, the Philippine-France Business Council and Le Club (French Chamber of Commerce) that this would bring to P950 million its total investments in Fortune Cement Corp. over the past two years. 

Pekenc said the company would spend P250 million this year to raise the output of the Fortune Cement to 3,200 tons per day from the existing capacity of 2,600 tons per day. This is on top of the P750 million the company invested last year to modernize the cement facility. 

The French firm has so far pumped in $1 billion in the Philippines including the acquisition of Republic Cement Corp. and its subsidiaries Fortune Cement, Premier Cement, Iligan Cement, Mindanao Portland Cement and FR Cement. 

Pekenc explained that the company is now focusing on expanding and modernizing the facilities of Fortune Cement before investing in the plants of the other cement companies. 

Pekenc also stressed the need for the Philippine government to extend the safeguard duties imposed on all cement imports as petitioned by the Cement Manufacturers Association of the Philippines. The industry wants the P15.60 safeguard duty per 40-kilogram bag of imported cement that expired last year extended until 2008.
