2005年泰国水泥需求增长

　　预计2005年泰国水泥需求将上升10%，需求约3500万吨，2004年是3200万吨。水泥出口将从去年的900万吨上升到1200万吨。有相关人士说泰国水泥价格有可能每吨上涨200-300泰国铢。

　　泰国TPI Polene公司正与其他债权人协商新建四条水泥生产线,估计需要60亿铢的投资。

Thailand: Cement business likely to grow this year

The local cement business is expected to expand this year in tandem with the country’s economic growth and the construction of many state-supported basic infrastructure projects, according to an industry executive. 

Prachai Leopairat, President and Chief Executive Officer of TPI Polene Plc, said the cement business this year should expand well since the economy was likely to grow at 6% and the government had a plan to expand investment in the basic infrastructure, which could lead to higher demand of cement.

It is anticipated the demand of the product this year would increase by 10% to 35 million tons from 32 million last year.

As well, the cement export is projected to rise to 12 million tons from 9 million last year.

Mr. Prachai projected cement prices would increase by 200-300 baht per ton since the prices were dumped late last year.

He said TPI Polene was negotiating with creditors for the approval for the building of the 4th cement plant, which requires total investment of six billion baht. (TNA)
