也门水泥产量将增加三倍

　　也门工商部总理说2007年水泥产量将从2003年的154.1 万吨增加到550万吨，这个产量将能满足国内日益增长的水泥需求。 据中国水泥网了解，也门2007年的需求量可能达到400万吨。

　　也门国有的三家水泥公司目前无法满足国内的需求，但该总理说也门已经建立了两家具有220万吨产能的水泥厂。从事水泥制造销售的也门公营公司最近也和英国、罗马尼亚等地的公司签定了一系列的协议，准备在Bajil水泥厂扩大产能。 据中国水泥网了解，该厂目前的产能是30万吨。私有企业也想建立自己的水泥生产基地。

Yemen to boost cement production by 300 percent

Yemen intends to increase cement production by a massive 300 percent in the next three years, a move that will at last allow it to keep pace with internal demand. 

Yemen Trade and Industry Minister Khaled Rajeh Sheikh said that projected cement production will total of 5.5 million tons in 2007 up from 1.541 million tons in 2003. 

Sheikh said that the increase would enable Yemen to cover the local market needs of cement which are forecast to exceed 4 million tons in 2007. 

The country's three government-owned cement works do not currently produce sufficient quantities to meet domestic demand, but Sheikh added that two cement factories will be established with a capacity of 2.2 million tons. 

Yemen's Public Corporation For Manufacturing and Marketing Cement recently signed a number of agreements with British and Romanian companies to expand production facilities at the country's Bajil cement factory which currently has a production capacity of around 300,000 tons. 

Private sector companies have for some time been seeking to set up their own cement works, particularly in Hadhramaut and Abyan, where there is an abundance of gypsum, to fill the supply gap. 

In the wake of Yemen's recent moves to liberalize and diversify its economy, Yemeni and Saudi businessmen have recently signed agreements for establishing two cement factories in Hadhramot and Abyan provinces.
